Affair of the Heart 2020

Virtual Event Hosted by the U of A’s MD Class of 2023

Affair of the Heart is an annual event held by students from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in support of a local children’s charity. Over the past 10 years, they have raised tens of thousands of dollars for causes such as the Edmonton Down Syndrome Society, Basically Babies, Little Warriors, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Crystal Kids.

This year, all funds raised from Affair of the Heart will directly support The Rainbow Society of Alberta’s wish granting program. Proceeds will go towards enriching the lives of children in Alberta with the gift of a magical and memorable wish come true. A wish fills a child’s heart with hope and happiness, from the adventure seeking child wishing to escape their wheelchair to experience the thrill of a Disney ride, to the young girl dreaming of an adapted bicycle to ride to school with her friends for the very first time. The lasting effects of having a wish come true are immeasurable and the memories created will boost a child’s spirit on the most challenging days of battling their illness.

Due to COVID-19, the gala will be held online and includes a live awards ceremony complete with compelling speakers, short videos showing where your donations will be put to use, and a silent auction and raffle (open November 18th, 2020 and concluding at 8:30 pm November 28th 2020). The live awards ceremony will be held on November 28th, 2020 at 6:00 pm.
